Some just want a platform to distribute it. And so, the creators have always been front and center of our idea from the very beginning. Going into an existing industry, you have to be humble and respectful of the creators of that content. “When we started Podimo, there were three lanes: One was the users, one was the user experience - creating content that really makes a difference in the world - and the third part was creating something new for the creators. There are no sharp elbows and no brilliant jerks.” On creating a culture that values podcast creators I think something that I’m very protective of is our company culture. Ones that have fire in their eyes, and who are passionate about what they do, and who collaborate. In the start-up culture, it’s a specific type of people who are drawn in to that type of company. But it’s also the people you get to do it with that excites me as well. That’s something I find interesting, building that and shipping that into the world.
And providing a user experience that’s amazing. For creators, to help them monetize better, or more.
Something that will make a big difference, creating content that will make people smarter about themselves and the world around them. “I like that early vibe of something new, and something that you feel will add value to the world. It’s like you’re constantly learning.” Why she loves start-up culture “Being a global company but working in all of these different local markets with exciting local cultures and global creators, you learn so much. Different cultures are different, and that’s what makes it so exciting,” she says. “It’s important to be super-local when we go into a market. While Podimo is still in start-up mode, stay tuned because it is expanding rapidly into markets across the world, a challenge that Lægdsgaard finds extremely exciting. The subscription-based service’s goal is simple: to bring country- and language-specific programming to listeners while making sure creators get paid for their work. But when the latter introduced podcasts, she was hooked on the format - a passion that led her into her current role as chief people officer at Podimo.
